WickedStrange covers New England’s haunted side — ghost tours, haunted lodging, seasonal attractions, and the folklore underneath all of it — across Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, and Rhode Island.

How we handle facts

Operating dates, admission prices, and open/closed status are checked against the venue’s own website or by phone. Every page carries the date it was last verified and links to the sources used.

When a venue hasn’t announced something yet, we say so. We don’t carry over last year’s dates, and we don’t reprint figures from other roundups — which is how stale information spreads through this whole category. If a date is missing from one of our pages, it means it wasn’t announced, not that we couldn’t be bothered.

How we handle ghosts

We report legends as legends. On every haunted location we keep two things separate: the story as it’s told, and what the historical record actually supports. Sometimes those line up. Usually the documented version is stranger and better.

Skepticism is not the same as contempt. These stories matter to the places that tell them, and they’re worth telling accurately.

Who writes it

WickedStrange is written and edited by Nick Dube, who also publishes hiking and trail-conditions research at HikerNerd. The two sites overlap more than you’d think — the White Mountains have ghost towns and the ghost towns have trails.

If a date, price, or fact on this site is wrong, tell us and we’ll fix it quickly. Accuracy about this year’s details is the entire point of the site, so corrections are genuinely welcome. Email us
