Lizzie Borden House
Uniquely on this list, the underlying event is not folklore at all. Andrew and Abby Borden were killed with a hatchet in this house on August 4, 1892. Lizzie was tried and acquitted in June 1893, and nobody else was ever charged. The murders are documented history; the hauntings are claims.
