Best Haunted Houses in Connecticut 2026: What's Confirmed and What Isn't

Connecticut's haunt scene is small and good, and as of August 21, 2026 most of it is finally dated.

We checked every attraction in the state against its own website. Three now have full 2026 calendars with prices. One is still selling tickets against dates that belong to last year — and it is not obvious at a glance, which is the interesting part.

When this page first went up on July 31, not one Connecticut venue had published a calendar. All three arrived during August, within a fortnight of each other.

The state of play

Trail of Terror, Wallingford — twelve nights, September 26 to October 30

The outdoor haunted trail run by Scare Crew Productions, and the one most Connecticut locals name first. It's a charity operation, which is part of why it has the reputation it does — the money goes somewhere.

Twelve nights: September 26, then October 2, 3, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 and 30. Every one of those falls on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday in 2026, which is how you know the calendar is this year's rather than last year's left up. Note what is missing from it: October 25 and Halloween itself. A trail that closes before October 31 catches people out every year.

$28 for a timed ticket and $40 VIP, each $2 off until September 1. On-site general admission is no longer sold — it is online and in advance or not at all.

The Dark Manor, Baltic — weekends from October 2, then nightly to Halloween

Eastern Connecticut's long-running haunt, with free parking and a full calendar posted at last.

Weekends from October 2, then nightly from October 28 through Halloween — seventeen nights in total. There is a student discount night on Thursday October 22, and a grand prize campout drawing on Halloween itself.

$25 general admission, $33 VIP, $21 a head for groups of 12 to 30. The detail worth knowing if you have younger children: daytime matinees at $15 run noon to 5pm on October 17, 18, 24 and 25 only. The night hours are explicitly not recommended under 13; the matinee is how you bring an eleven-year-old.

Fright Haven, Stratford — the one that's actually open

Fright Haven is unusual in New England: it runs year-round, not just in October. The only dates currently published are an off-season event — April 3–4, 2026, 7:00pm–9:00pm — an Easter-themed night they describe with rather more enthusiasm about rabbits than is strictly comfortable.

Pricing on the site runs $24.99–$29.99 general admission, with Fast Pass at +$15 and Front of the Line at +$35. Halloween 2026 pricing isn't separately published, so confirm for your date.

If you want a Connecticut haunt outside October, this is the only one on this page that reliably has something running.

Phantom Fall Fest at Lake Compounce — confirmed, and renamed

Connecticut folklore also runs deeper than its ticketed haunts — the Winchester rifle fortune that built America's most famous haunted mansion was a New Haven story before it was a California one.

Connecticut's biggest Halloween event is inside the Lake Compounce amusement park in Bristol, and it is the first attraction in this state with a full 2026 calendar we could confirm at source.

Weekends, September 19 to November 1, 2026.

The catch is the name. This ran for years as the Haunted Graveyard, and the park has rebranded it Phantom Fall Fest — the old page now 404s. Roundups still quoting Haunted Graveyard dates are pointing at a URL that no longer exists, which is a good reminder that a dead link and a stale fact usually arrive together. Legends of Fear, Shelton — selling tickets on last year's calendar

The haunted hayride and Hallow Trail at Fairview Tree Farm is one of the most-ranked haunts in the state, and its tickets page is live and selling. Look closely at the schedule, though: it names "Sunday, October 12th, and 26th" as the nights both attractions run. October 12 and 26, 2026 are Mondays. They were Sundays in 2025. The page is selling against last season's calendar, and until it updates, no date on it can be treated as this year's.

It will almost certainly run — it always does — and when the schedule flips to real 2026 dates, the announcement tracker will show it.

Where to stay

Connecticut's contribution to the haunted lodging list is Captain Grant's, 1754 in Preston — the only property in our entire New England roundup that calls itself haunted on its own front page, and sells a Halloween event with a ghost tour, storytelling, and seances to prove it. Every other inn on that list stays silent about its ghost.

Take that as you like: it's either the most honest place in New England or the one with the clearest commercial incentive. It sits twenty minutes from Mystic's ghost tours, and inland the haunted inns of the Connecticut River Valley cover the quieter route north.

What to do now

Nothing in Connecticut is bookable for Halloween today. That's not a gap in our research; it's late July.

If you need a confirmed date this far out, Fright Kingdom in Nashua has published its whole 2026 season and opens September 25. It's about two and a half hours from Hartford.
