Haunted Attractions in Vermont 2026: Two Haunts, Neither Confirmed
Vermont's two major Halloween attractions checked at source — including a published schedule that can only describe last year, and how we know.

Vermont has two haunted attractions worth travelling for, and that's the whole list. There's no screampark here, no forty-dollar timed-entry maze. What Vermont has is a hayride on a family farm and a piece of volunteer-run horror theatre.
Neither has confirmed 2026 dates. But one of them shows something worth explaining, because it's the clearest example we've found of how a stale date survives in plain sight.

Vengeance in the Valley, Guilford — and the schedule that can't be this year
A haunted hayride and haunted corn maze on Gaines Farm, 6343 Coolidge Highway, two miles from the Massachusetts line. There's a bonfire, cider, and fried dough for anyone in the group who would rather not go into the corn. It's the biggest outdoor haunt in Vermont.
The practical detail matters most here: cash only, no credit cards, and no pre-sale tickets. They're sold at the booth from 6:30pm to 10pm on open nights. Hayride $18, corn maze $16, combo $28. If you turn up with a card, you don't get in.
Now the dates. Their site says: open every Friday and Saturday, October 3–25. No year anywhere on the page.
That schedule cannot describe 2026. This year October 3 is a Saturday and October 25 is a Sunday — a "Friday and Saturday" season doesn't start or end on those days. It fits 2025 exactly, when October 3 was a Friday and October 25 a Saturday.
So it's last season's calendar, left up. Nothing sinister; small operators update in August. But it's undated on the page, it reads as current, and it's being copied verbatim onto roundup pages across the internet right now. That's the whole mechanism: a plausible-looking schedule with no year on it, propagating.
We've recorded no 2026 season for this attraction, and this page emits no calendar markup claiming one. Call before you drive.
Nightmare Vermont, Essex Junction — still showing 2025
At the Champlain Valley Exposition outside Burlington, and genuinely unlike anything else in New England: a scripted, theatrical haunt with live actors, stage combat and effects, staged by volunteers and run as a charity. It has run since 2004.
Its site was still advertising the 2025 season when we checked — showtimes in late October and a final night on All Souls' Day, November 1. Given a twenty-two-year run and a charitable structure, it's very likely returning. It just hasn't said so yet.
What this means if you're planning
Nothing in Vermont is bookable today, and for Vengeance in the Valley nothing ever will be — it's a cash-at-the-gate operation by design.
Vermont's haunts are late announcers. Both of these are small operations run by people with day jobs. August is when this changes.
If you need certainty now, the nearest confirmed season is Fright Kingdom in Nashua, which has published its entire 2026 calendar — about two hours from Brattleboro.
For a haunted overnight in Vermont, the Green Mountain Inn in Stowe takes bookings year-round. Ask for Room 302 and see what happens — though be warned, the inn itself has never said a word about Boots Berry.
