Best Haunted Houses in Massachusetts 2026: Who's Open, Who's Closed, Who Hasn't Said
Massachusetts haunted attractions checked against their own websites — including the longest season in New England, one that has closed, and one whose dates contradict themselves.
Updated August 21, 2026
Massachusetts has the deepest haunted-attraction bench in New England and the least reliable information about it. Checking the major venues against their own websites turned up one that has closed, one whose own site can't agree with itself about when its special events are, and the longest published season anywhere in the region.
Six Massachusetts venues have now published a 2026 calendar. In late July that number was zero, and this page said so. Every one of them announced during August, which is why it is worth reading the date at the top of a page like this before you trust it.

Barrett's Haunted Mansion, Abington — open, priced, undated
1235 Bedford Street (Route 18), Abington. The good news is unambiguous: their FAQ states plainly that both attractions are open for 2026, rebuilt, for the venue's 35th season. Prices are published. Free parking on site.
General admission is $40 at the window, $43.50 online, and covers both attractions. Group rate at 25+ is $34 Friday and Saturday. Sunday Lights-On tours run 1–4pm in October at $20, which is the option if you want to see the sets without the actors.
The second attraction is Burial Hill Motel this year. It has been The Cell, The Sanctuary, Condemned, and Outpost 34 across previous seasons — so if a roundup tells you to go see "Outpost 34," that page is a year stale.
Two things to check before you pay
The R.I.P. upgrade price doesn't match itself. Their tickets page lists it at $65 at the window and $68.50 online. Their FAQ says $60 on the website. Both pages are live right now. Ask at purchase.
The special-event dates don't match either. Mayhem at the Mansion is billed as "Tuesday October 20" on the tickets page and "Tuesday, October 21st" further down the same site. Devil's Night is "Tuesday October 27" in one place and "Tuesday, October 28th" in another. In 2026, October 20 and October 27 are the Tuesdays — the 21st and 28th are Wednesdays — so the Tuesday-matching dates are almost certainly the right ones. But "almost certainly" is not good enough for an 18+ event with limited tickets and a signed waiver. Call 781-871-4573 before you plan around either.
We've deliberately not published these as confirmed dates in the table above, and no calendar markup on this page claims them, because the venue itself states them two different ways.
Witch's Woods, Westford — every Friday to Sunday in October
At Nashoba Valley Ski Area. A hayride plus walk-through attractions built onto a ski hill, recommended for ages 6+, with costumes and costume masks banned for guests.
Open every Friday through Sunday from October 2 to October 31, 2026 — fourteen nights, closing on Halloween itself rather than running through the Sunday. Tickets are online and in advance only; no prices were published when we checked.
Through July and early August this section said the opposite. The site was still advertising its 2025 season — "open 11/1 for our last night of operations for the 2025 Season" — and we wrote that the 2026 season would probably follow the same Friday-to-Sunday shape but that we would not announce it for them. On August 17 they did, and it does.
Ghoulie Manor, Taunton — closed
Their own site says it: "We regret to inform our loyal followers... that Ghoulie Manor Haunted House is closed for now."
This is the haunt from the documentary The American Scream, and it is still listed as open on multiple Massachusetts roundups. If you were planning a trip to Taunton on the strength of one of those, don't.
Factory of Terror, Fall River — the longest season in New England
120 Pearl Street. When we first checked this page in July, the site led with its year-round cinema and the "Haunted House" nav link 404'd, so we recorded the haunt's 2026 status as genuinely unclear. That has changed, and changed big.
27 nights, September 12 through November 14 — read off the venue's own booking calendar, one bookable date at a time. That is the longest published season of any haunt in this guide. It opens two weeks before anyone else in Massachusetts and, after closing on November 1, reopens for a bonus weekend on November 13 and 14 with nothing else in the region running.
General admission is $20-35 and VIP $38-55 depending on the night, groups of ten or more from $15, all with the $5 online discount applied. Entry is timed — twelve slots a night between 6pm and 10pm — and tickets are online-only and non-refundable, so this is not a turn-up-and-pay venue.
The cinema still runs in the same building year-round if you want it. The haunt is the reason to come.
Six full seasons, all published in plain words
Massachusetts now has six venues you can plan around, and they arrived one at a time as we kept checking. Factory of Terror is the biggest — 27 nights, September 12 to November 14, covered above. Witch's Woods followed on August 17 with fourteen. Mike's Maze in Sunderland announced September 11 to November 1 overnight between two of our checks, and Sauchuk Farm in Plympton runs weekends from September 19. Fright Fest at Six Flags New England in Agawam published its whole 2026 season — September 26 through November 1 — on the park's own event page. And Fear on the Farm at McCray's in South Hadley states it in one sentence: open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in October 2026, $30 general admission, $55 fast pass.
Every one of those checks out against this year's calendar, which is more than most of this page can say.
DementedFX, Holyoke — and Hysteria, Danvers
Two of the state's biggest names, one of which has now moved. DementedFX in Holyoke — routinely picked as the best haunt in western Massachusetts, with Hollywood-caliber sets — is confirmed running for 2026: it is hiring, with open auditions on August 30 and September 13 and 20. A venue casting actors six weeks out intends to open. It still has not published a calendar or a price. Hysteria at Connors Farm in Danvers publishes its hours (gates at 6:30pm, haunting from about 7 to 11) and sells tickets, but shows no dates or year outside its booking calendar. Danvers, it's worth remembering, was Salem Village in 1692 — the haunted cornfield sits in the town where the actual accusations began, beside a real 17th-century burial ground.
Both rows will flip on the announcement tracker when either publishes.
What to actually do
If you need a confirmed Massachusetts booking today, there isn't one. That is the honest answer in July. Barrett's is the safest bet — confirmed open, prices known — and their calendar is the one most likely to drop first.
Cross the border for certainty. Fright Kingdom in Nashua has published its entire 2026 season, opens September 25, and is under an hour from Boston. It's the only major haunt in northern New England you can currently plan a specific night around.
For legend rather than tickets, Dudley Road in Billerica is the state's most durable roadside myth — and a case study in how a "burned witch" story attaches to a place where nobody was ever burned.
Watch the whole region flip at once on the 2026 announcement tracker — every venue we check, with its live status.
We'll update this page as venues announce, and re-stamp the verification date at the top when we do. Tell us if you spot an announcement first.
The Haunted Almanac
We check all 50 New England haunted attractions against their own websites, every week. 25 have published 2026 dates so far. Last sweep: September 15.
The ones that matter never announce. Spooky World published twenty-three nights and put them nowhere but its ticket widget; Scary Acres rebuilt its whole site in nine days without a word. We find those and send them to you. Free, and one click gets you out.
