Haunted Hayrides in New England 2026: One Confirmed Season, Two Still Guessing
Every haunted hayride we could verify in New England — one with a confirmed October season, one whose website became a plant nursery, and one that only takes cash.

The haunted hayride is the most New England of Halloween attractions: a working farm, a tractor, a wagon of strangers, and a field in the dark.
We track 5 of any size in the region, and 2 have published a full 2026 season — Witch's Woods, which flipped from last year's calendar to this year's between two of our checks, and Fear on the Farm at McCray's in South Hadley. The rest have problems more interesting than a missing date.
Two of the biggest hayrides in New England are not on this list, because they are attached to something larger: Spooky World in Litchfield NH runs one alongside five walk-through haunts, and Scary Acres in Hope RI runs the Dark Harvest Hayride alongside two more attractions. Both published full seasons in the first week of September. If the wagon is the part you want, they are the two best bets in the region.

Vengeance in the Valley, Guilford VT — cash at the gate
The biggest outdoor haunt in Vermont, on Gaines Farm two miles from the Massachusetts line, with a bonfire, cider and fried dough for anyone who would rather not go into the corn.
Hayride $18, corn maze $16, combo $28. Cash only — no cards, no pre-sale tickets, sold at the booth from 6:30pm to 10pm on open nights. Turn up with a card and you do not get in.
Their published schedule reads "every Friday and Saturday, October 3–25" with no year on it anywhere. That pattern cannot describe 2026 — this year the 3rd is a Saturday and the 25th a Sunday. Witch's Woods, Westford MA — the full 2026 season
A screampark built onto the Nashoba Valley ski area: hayride plus walk-through attractions, recommended for ages 6+, with costumes and costume masks banned for guests.
Every Friday through Sunday from October 2 to October 31, 2026 — fourteen nights, closing on Halloween itself with no Sunday November 1. The venue states it in one sentence with the year attached, and all fourteen dates land on the weekdays it claims.
Through July and early August this page said the opposite: the site was still advertising its 2025 season, and we wrote that the 2026 season would "almost certainly follow the same Friday-to-Sunday shape — but it has not been announced, so we have not announced it." It has now, and it does. Tickets are online and in advance only; no prices were published when we checked.
Field of Screams, West Greenwich RI — the website became a plant nursery
The strangest finding on this site.
Field of Screams runs a haunted hayride and walk-through attractions at Big John Leyden's Tree Farm. Its former website, hauntedhayride.net, now serves the tree farm's nursery storefront — shop hours Monday to Friday, Christmas trees and shrubs, no Halloween content whatsoever.
The farm is trading perfectly well. The haunt's web presence has simply been replaced by retail. That is not proof the hayride has stopped, and plenty of small operators now run a season entirely on social media — but there is no official source confirming it runs, so we are not going to say it does.
What a hayride actually is
Worth setting expectations, because "haunted hayride" covers a wide range.
You are seated, moving and in a group, which caps how close anything can get and how long any encounter lasts. That makes hayrides substantially less intense than a walk-through haunt where you set your own pace and can be separated from your group. Most are pitched around ages 6 and up.
They are also entirely outdoors in October at night in New England, which is the part people underestimate. A wagon moving through a field generates its own wind chill.
What to do
Witch's Woods is the one you can plan. Fourteen nights in October, online tickets in advance — and the only hayride in the region with a current-year calendar.
One of the other two never will be bookable — Vengeance in the Valley is cash at the gate by design.
Call before you drive. All three are small operations, and the two without 2026 dates are still showing information from last year.
